Job Description Location: Onsite – 3215 State Highway 360,
Grapevine, TX 76051 Reports to: VP Business Controller Pay is
dependent upon experience and will be discussed during the
consideration process Local Travel: 15-20% The Opportunity The
Regional Business Controller provides essential financial
leadership and strategic partnership for all aspects of the
business across the Texas region. This highly visible role partners
directly with the VP of Operations, VP of Sales, and local business
leaders to drive financial performance, strategic decision-making,
and continuous process improvement for up to 16 manufacturing and
distribution sites . The ideal candidate enjoys business analysis
and collaborating with operations and sales leaders, focusing their
time on impactful projects and actionable insights rather than
transactional accounting. Key Responsibilities and Performance
Drivers I. Strategic Partnership & Organizational Leadership
Business Partnering: Work closely with the VPs of Sales and
Operations and Plant Managers, developing a collaborative
partnership as a key member of the regional management team.
Performance Improvement: Be an active listener and self-starter,
initiating and leading projects to drive quantifiable results and
savings based on data analysis and recommendations from Sales and
Operations. Financial Acumen Training: Provide financial statement
analysis training and assistance to Plant Managers to enhance their
ability to report and understand business results. II. Business
Analysis & Financial Oversight Profitability Analysis: Proactively
analyze and communicate financial results and key performance
indicators related to profitability, productivity, costing, and
pricing across the region. Margin & Cost Deep Dive: Perform
detailed analysis of customer, product category, and business unit
performance, focusing on: Sales mix, material, labor, and
transportation costs. Identifying opportunities to improve
delivered margins based on customers and product categories.
Perform detailed analysis of material costs, inventory accuracy,
inventory aging, and bills of material. Data Analytics : analyze
large data sets to provide summarized insights to assist management
with understanding issues, trends, and making decisions. Perform
ad-hoc analysis and assist with special projects and profitability
improvement initiatives. Capital Support: Provide robust financial
support and analysis for regional capital projects and investments.
Plant Performance Audits: Schedule and conduct regular plant visits
(up to 15-20% travel) or mini audits focusing on relationship
building, inventory management, sales, purchasing, and provide
financial training and direction to plant management. Complete a
written Executive Summary documenting key findings and areas for
improvement. III. Financial Management & Planning Month-End Review:
Review month-end close results to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Critical monitoring includes cut-off procedures for billing,
purchasing, production entry and intercompany transactions. Analyze
monthly physical inventory, accounts receivable and accounts
payable results. Performance Review: Review monthly P&L results
with Regional Operations VPs and Plant Managers, investigating
significant irregularities or trends. Inventory & Cost Control:
Review and approve semi-annual raw material cost updates and
provide guidance and oversight for successful year-end physical
inventory counts and internal inventory audits. Role Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance Required
Experience: 10 years of progressive financial analysis or
accounting experience in a multi-site, regional organization.
Industry: Manufacturing, Construction, or Homebuilding experience
is strongly preferred. Certification: CPA or CMA Certification is
strongly preferred. Skills: Demonstrated ability to collaborate
across all levels of an organization. Advanced Microsoft Excel
skills for modeling and data manipulation and proficiency in Word
and PowerPoint. Proficiency with Accounting software and reporting
databases (J.D. Edwards and Power BI a plus). Strong
problem-solving, organizational, and oral & written communication
