BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
The Assistant Manager of Business Intelligence (BI) manages and
leads a team responsible for delivering analytics and technical
support needed to improve the operations/performance of the Parts
Department including warehouse operations. The position is
responsible for creating a vision for establishing, implementing,
and maintaining tools, systematic environments, and strategies that
ensure data from various systems/sources is readily available for
use by the BI team including self-serve end users. The position is
expected to be a subject matter expert of Parts policies,
procedures, and systems. The position works with key stakeholders
and leads the BI team to increase operational efficiencies and
streamline existing processes as well as implement new business
strategies and processes. The Assistant Manager is responsible for
logging of all projects, leading and executing projects, assigning
and overseeing projects conducted by the BI team, and ensuring
support for ongoing solutions or business tools. The position
coordinates all system requests, ensures proper user testing,
validates functionality, and oversees implementation. The position
manages the activities of the BI team to ensure all analyses,
projections, conclusions, presentations, reports, data
visualizations, supply chain metrics/KPIs dashboards, and solution
proposals are thorough, accurate, complete, and dependable.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: This position does the following in
accordance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws /
regulations and the Company's policies, procedures and
guidelines:
- Evaluates the procedures and technologies utilized by the
organization and develops standardized, repeatable, and efficient
process for analytics, reporting, data visualizations, and
dashboards. Creates and maintains environments and tools to enable
self-serve analytics across the Parts organization.
- Drives standardization of metrics and reporting across the
organization.
- Leads development data-driven solutions that drive insights
regarding productivity, quality, sales, and customer satisfaction
opportunities across the organization. Recommends improvement ideas
to help the organization operate more efficiently and/or reduce
costs.
- Provides support to all areas of the Parts Division.
Troubleshoot day-to-day questions, provide recommendations for
improved system processes, and performs user acceptance testing on
new or improved procedures.
- Creates tools to support Parts field staff with dealers.
Improves dealer awareness and access to relevant Parts data.
- Lead and prioritize technical and analytical Parts projects.
Implement and maintain a data driven project management methodology
(e.g. Six Sigma) that standardizes and streamlines projects from
inception through implementation. Liaison between departmental
end-users, PMO, IT, consultants, and others in the analysis,
design, configuration, testing and maintenance of systems to ensure
optimal performance levels and meet business requirements. Reviews
new and existing programs, procedures, and projects to validate
improvement opportunities, identify and manage risks, and resolve
problem. Ensures development of information system documentation to
support efficient operations.
- Ensures the BI team's business functions and processes are
appropriately defined and documented.
- As the resident technical experts of analytical tools, industry
trends, business data, and operational systems, this position leads
the Business Intelligence team to support other areas of the
organization by developing and delivering technical training,
staying up to date on the latest technical tools and capabilities,
and proposing changes to advance capabilities and
effectiveness.
- Ensures the BI team delivers timely analysis, projects, and
reporting to enable faster decision making and drive continuous
process improvements. Identifies and sponsors continuous
improvement projects.
- Defines metrics/KPIs and reports/dashboards to support
achievement of Department goals.
- Interface with business partners across the internal
organization as well as dealers and suppliers.
- Manage employees including, but not limited to, recruiting,
hiring, training, mentoring, distributing and reviewing work, and
managing employee performance.
- Other duties as assigned by management. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in a Supply
Chain related disciplines such as Logistics, Supply Chain
Management, Industrial Engineering, or related technical fields
preferred:
- In lieu of a degree at least 5 years related experience of
business intelligence and/or analytical experience in service parts
or related fields.
- With a degree at least 3 years' of experience in a related
field.
- Must have very strong technical and computer skills
including:
- The ability to define and create environments for analytics,
data distribution, and reporting.
- Extensive knowledge of big data technology, processes
(extracting, storage, processing, scripting, etc.), and associated
tool/products (e.g., SAS, Power BI, Winshuttle).
- Superior knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables,
power pivots, charts, etc.) and Access.
- Experience with SAP modules APO, MRP, WM, EWM, and BW as well
as demand/inventory planning systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of service parts including sales and marketing,
purchasing, forecasting and planning, distribution philosophies,
and warehouse operations.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to query data from multiple sources, conduct detailed
analysis, discover business trends, and draw conclusions to lead
strategy developments.
- Experience with user and/or statistical programming along with
statistical modeling.
- Thorough understanding of advanced statistical concepts and
optimization techniques.
- Project management experience. Lean skills and experience (TPS,
Six Sigma) is preferred.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain
effective working relationships with direct reports, co-workers,
executives, and other internal business areas as well as dealers
and suppliers.
- Demonstrated cross-functional supply chain knowledge.
- Self-motivated to initiate, drive and own projects for self and
team.
- Ability to work independently, in teams, and with team members
in multiple locations.
- Proven leadership abilities focused on continuous improvement.
