We invite you to be a part of the UT Southwestern cardiothoracic APP team where you’ll discover teamwork, professionalism, and consistent opportunities for growth. /n Job Summary /n The Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team with the division of Pediatric Critical Care at Children’s Medical Center (practice sites at the Dallas and Plano campuses). This position primarily functions in the Intermediate Care Unit for patients with a complex anatomy and physiology. The patients housed in the Intermediate Care Unit no longer require intensive care level support but do require more support than feasible on the general floor. This position requires a high degree of autonomy, critical thinking, and clinical expertise in working with complex and critically ill pediatric patients. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. OR /n · Graduate of a Master's degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program. /n /n Licenses/Certifications /n · Licensure as a Pediatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (CPNP-AC) by Texas State Board of Nursing. Authorization for prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing. OR /n · Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification required. Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board (PA-C). AND /n · Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics based on the UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers. /n /n Preferred Experience /n · Three years of experience in an Advanced Practice Provider role required, with demonstrated increasing responsibility. /n /n Job Duties /n · Conducts and documents comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status. /n · Synthesizes data and utilizes evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results. /n · Demonstrates proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate based on specialty and training. /n · Provides relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures. /n · Facilitates/participates in quality related initiatives through planned group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings, to improve clinical and system practice performance. /n · Collaborates in research projects and protocols; and routinely applies evidence based best practices to patient care. /n · Performs other duties as assigned. /n Security and EEO Statement /n Security /n This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information. /n /n EEO Statement /n UT Southwestern Medical Center is committed to an educational and working environment that provides equal opportunity to all members of the University community.
