Must-Have: High School Diploma/GED Description: The Sterile
Processing Technician 2 performs various duties related to
cleaning, sterilization, processing, organizing, and distributing
patient equipment, instruments, supplies, and products used in
patient care. This role may serve as a resource to less experienced
Sterile Processing Technicians. Key responsibilities include
preparing rooms and organizing instruments, equipment, treatment
trays, and supplies for specified departments. Clean and
decontaminate instruments, containers, and patient equipment using
appropriate detergents and disinfectant solutions in compliance
with regulatory standards and internal policies. Operate
semi-automatic and automatic sterilization equipment and washers.
Inventory, order, replenish, and distribute instruments, reusable
medical equipment, and medical supplies for general use and
surgical carts. Maintain and control inventory and related records
and files. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental,
manufacturer, and infection control practices. Collaborate in
providing in-service training and assist in mentoring junior staff.
Successful candidates should possess knowledge of equipment and
instrument sterilization methods and procedures, as well as basic
medical terminology. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
are essential for effective interaction with team members.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to adhere to safety,
environmental, manufacturer, and infection control practices. A
commitment to effective customer service delivery and the ability
to work productively within a team is expected.
