Position Summary:
L3Harris Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division
specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies
for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar
systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor
technologies using small company agility and big company
experience.
We are searching for a Lead, Software Engineering (Architect) in
our Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division, located in
Plano,TX.
As a Lead, Software Engineering, (Architect), you make high level
decisions about the structure of a software system based on a
breadth of software and product specific considerations as well as
knowledge of software architecture patterns. Responsible for
leveraging machine learning techniques in guiding software product
development through analysis, design, development, testing and
integration.
Major Job Activities:
- Lead software product development leveraging Artificial
Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques.
- Collaborate with internal teams and L3H partners to shape and
deliver AI/ML solutions that meet customer needs for DoD
customers
- Analyze and assist in the development of requirements flowed
down by Systems Engineering
- Drive critical decisions about the high-level structure of a
software system (architecture), its main components, and their
interfaces and interactions within the context of engineering
Integrated Product Teams.
- Design software architecture with consideration for full
product and product line performance, integration, reliability,
usability, maintainability, scalability, etc.
- Design domain based software applications compliant to
Government Owned Architectures and Standards while coherently using
the supplied middleware and conceptual frameworks via DevSecOps
pipelines
- Collaborate daily with team members in an Agile Scrum
environment
- Implement software applications from design documentation (i.e.
Algorithm Design Description ) and collaborative interactions with
domain Subject Matter Experts
- Help define product roadmaps and software quality metrics
- Raise level of software functional organization proficiency in
DevOps, CI/CD, Agile Methodology
- Encourage software reuse initiatives
- Recommend tactics and strategies that directly impact the
achievement of overall business or functional results.
- Propose technical standards, including coding standards, tools,
or platforms.
- Oversee and/or participate on a software team to design,
document, develop and test software in alignment with a unified
architectural vision and Software Development Process (SDP).
- Help resolve any disputes/design conflicts and make tradeoffs
when necessary keeping product performance in mind
- Identify risks and propose mitigations when necessary
- Participate in software design/code reviews
- Participate in Integration efforts/Bug fixes/optimization of
existing software systems
- Participate in estimating efforts for programs
- Provide input to project schedule, financial and technical
goals as appropriate
- Deliver highly technical messages/presentations communicating
at the level of the audience.
- Able to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as
required.
- Other duties as assigned Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as
required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or
related field and/or equivalent experience
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or
related field desired.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience designing and building
complex software systems.
- Experience evaluating and choosing technologies that facilitate
and enable implementation of a software or system
architecture.
- Experience in application of Machine Learning and other
Artificial Intelligence techniques
- Experience with all phases of the software development
lifecycle (SDLC) process.
- Broad, extensive and modern knowledge of the software
development process and its technologies
- Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or a similar Deep Learning
framework
- Knowledge of architecture and design patterns
- Experience with reading/creating UML/SysML artifacts to fully
describe software architecture and design
- Understanding of various coding methods and computer
languages
- Modern C++ (11/14/17 features)
- Experience developing software in/for Linux
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies
- Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a
multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment
- Outstanding work ethic and commitment to organizational
success
- Excellent communication (written, verbal, & presentation) and
leadership skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products Preferred Skills:
- Experience with using Machine Learning for resource
management
- GPU/CUDA experience.
- Familiarity with RF technology
- Cloud Computing knowledge
- Experience using container frameworks such as Docker and
Kubernetes
- Experience with distributed software design
- Experience with Agile/Scrum Development
- Experience using a DevOps process for continuous integration
and delivery (CI/CD)
- Experience with automated testing using a CI/CD toolchain
- Expereince with embedded RTOS a plus
- Familiarity with system modeling and the ability to describe
the system using standard artifacts (e.g. DoDAF, SysML, UML)
- Understanding of software metrics and performance measures
