Position Summary
The Sourcing Manager for Strategic Accounts leads execution of the
company-wide strategy development and implementation at the
regional level for the following operational areas of the Strategic
Accounts Group: Supplier Development and Ongoing Supplier Mgmt,
Cost Structure Mgmt, Supply Chain Development, Project Mgmt for key
account opportunities, Implementing National Awards, Technical
Development for Procurement Practices, and SA Sourcing team
Co-worker Development.
This co-worker works closely with the Director of Procurment and
the Centeral Procurement team to develop, plan, and implement the
strategies required to satisfy customer requirements through
leveraged buying and foreign sourcing. The SA Sourcing Manager will
have direct responsibility for the management and leadership of the
SA Sourcing/Procurement team. This includes mentorship and
co-worker development within the team. This position sets
purchasing plans for local buyers and negotiates substantial dollar
volume contracts. He/she is responsible for maintaining oversight
of regional placement of orders and negotiating favorable terms of
materials, equipment, and supplies (commodities-custom
packaging-corrugating) from suppliers. He/she evaluates supplier
quotes and services to determine and audit quality of preferred
suppliers. Has solid knowledge of a variety of concepts, practices,
and procedures within the purchasing/distribution field.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Creates purchasing plans (US and globally) to meet the needs of
each location/division of identified Strategic Accounts. Works with
Account Director to tailor programs specifically for each
account.
Builds and manages a high-performance team, cost driven, internal
customer-focused, with coaching and team development.
Interviews vendors and evaluates their products and capabilities as
supplier.
Researches product lines, prices, product sources, and other
relevant purchasing information.
Evaluates research findings and makes independent decisions on
procurement matters.
Serves as a liaison between vendors and account directors.
Obtains price quotes form vendors and compares quotes with the
specifications and availability of items.
Organizes updates and retains product information files and
purchase orders records.
Reviews contracts for change prior to bid or renewal.
Approves price increase provided for in contracts and makes changes
as necessary and appropriate.
Interprets and evaluates contract provisions.
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, increase
turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively
and jointly, to provide quality seamless customer service.
Identify strategic sourcing opportunities and manage the supply
base to achieve established total cost savings target
Manage all national buying agreements within the Strategic Acct
needs
Minimize/ Eliminate rogue spending and unnecessary spend with
non-preferred suppliers
Negotiate optimum inventory level agreements in conjunction to
support established service levels
Understand Customer Service Level Agreements and Planning Processes
to maximize Supplier negotiations in Cost Modeling
Manage 3PL relationships and balance standard costs within the 3PL
base regionally
Establish, support, and manage common process and procedural
standards across all depts
Establish and manage KPI's
Participating/Leading in Inventory Savings Activities- negotiating
reduction of inventory asset mgmt
Reduce/ eliminate unnecessary freight and supply chain expenses
Identify and implement improvements to achieve cost savings
Support operational transition activities for all new
acquisitions
Apply strategic marketing and international business skills to
identify and pursue business opportunities for the Landsberg
Company
Provide status reports to Director of Procurement and Vice
President of Strategic Accounts and/or Team Asia/Europe/Canada to
ensure timely completion of activities
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, increase
turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively
and jointly, to provide quality service
Provide Market updates to Directors and Customers
Drive and streamline awarded business into regional procurement
teams improving implementation process
Ensures that Safety is the number one priority
Performs other duties and/ or responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
BS/BA Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related Degree and/or
10+years of directly related work experience
5+ years of experience leading a Sourcing/Purchasing team with
relationship development and contract negotiation experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated leadership of high-performance work teams/groups
Must be effective in cross-functional working teams.
Excellent verbal as well as written communication skills
Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership, with
strong abilities in relationship management
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI
